- Engagement with our community Position Overview The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for providing comprehensive anesthesia care across a variety of patient populations. This role includes patient assessment, development of anesthesia plans, administration of anesthesia, intraoperative monitoring, post-anesthesia care, and emergency response. The CRNA practices with a high degree of independence while collaborating closely with surgeons, physicians, and clinical staff to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Essential
- Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations and patient assessments.
- Develop individualized anesthesia care plans.
- Obtain informed consent for anesthesia procedures.
- Select, administer, and manage anesthetic agents, medications, and fluids.
- Perform and manage regional anesthesia techniques, including: Local anesthesia, Spinal anesthesia, Epidural anesthesia, Caudal blocks, Peripheral nerve blocks, Intravenous regional anesthesia
- Manage patient airways using advanced techniques, including intubation and mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia using invasive and non-invasive methods.
- Respond to medical emergencies utilizing advanced life support protocols.
- Evaluate post-anesthesia recovery and provide appropriate interventions.
- Administer post-anesthesia medications and supportive therapies.
- Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care when clinically appropriate.
- Maintain competency and stay current with developments in anesthesia practice through continuing education and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia educational program.
- Current Montana CRNA license, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
- Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) credential.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Required Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of CRNA experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of anesthesia practices and patient care standards.
- Demonstrated excellence in patient assessment and clinical care.
- Ability to perform all duties outlined within Anesthesia Clinical Privileges. Physical
- Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, reaching, and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 50pounds at times.
- Physical strength and agility to position patients.
- Must have good vision, hearing, and communication skills.
- Must be free of any ambulatory impairment or restrictions
