About the Practice: A prominent and well-established facility in the Syracuse, New York area is seeking a skilled and dedicated Pediatric Anesthesiologist to join their team on a full-time basis. This facility is committed to providing specialized, high-quality anesthesia care to pediatric patients across a broad spectrum of surgical needs, while also supporting the general anesthesia service when required. Opportunity: This is an excellent full-time opportunity for a Pediatric Anesthesiologist to focus primarily on pediatric cases, comprising approximately 90% of the workload. The remaining portion will involve general anesthesia cases, including thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, trauma, regional anesthesia, and outpatient surgery. OB cases are not required.
This position offers a unique blend of highly specialized pediatric practice with exposure to complex adult cases, providing a rich and diverse clinical experience. Pediatric fellows are encouraged to apply and build their careers within a supportive and well-resourced environment.
Responsibilities: Provide and manage anesthesia for a wide range of pediatric surgical and procedural cases, from neonates to adolescents. Conduct thorough pre-operative evaluations of pediatric patients and develop individualized anesthetic plans. Administer and monitor anesthesia safely and effectively, adapting techniques to the unique physiological needs of children.
Manage pediatric patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) and address any emergent situations. Provide general anesthesia services for adult cases including thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, trauma, regional anesthesia, and outpatient surgery, as needed. Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives specific to pediatric anesthesia and general anesthesia, adhering to all facility protocols. Collaborate effectively with pediatric surgeons, other specialists, and the broader healthcare team.
Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology with fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology. Valid and unrestricted New York medical license (or eligible for licensure).
Strong clinical skills in all aspects of pediatric anesthesia. Proficiency in general anesthesia for diverse adult cases, including complex surgical specialties. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with pediatric patients and their families.
