Overview Join a clinical team as an Anesthesia Tech supporting patients undergoing anesthesia across a full range of surgical specialties. This role plays a hands-on part in preparing equipment, maintaining readiness, and coordinating closely with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, residents, and anesthesia technologists to keep care running smoothly. Responsibilities Under limited direct supervision, assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia by preparing anesthesia equipment prior to patient arrival. Place anesthesia monitors, ensure anesthesia equipment cleanliness, and confirm availability of specialized anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications where applicable. Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day.


Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and support placement of central line catheters. Operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports. Provide direct support for cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases.


Support service-specific faculty, including working directly with designated specialty leadership. Provide on-call coverage as assigned. Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and that preventive maintenance is completed.


Set up and operate sophisticated anesthesia equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting as needed. Serve as a key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment. Assist the Chief Anesthesia Technologist with in-service training program development and help train staff in anesthesia technologist role responsibilities.


Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting, including testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors; calibrating anesthesia machines; and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors. Set up rooms between cases, set up carts throughout the day, and complete full service set up at the end of the day. Coordinate with other hospital units to ensure specialized anesthesia equipment is available.


Provide set-up and support for ectopic procedure anesthesia care by ensuring proper equipment is in place for out-of-OR procedures. Provide backup to the shift supervisor when needed due to vacation or illness and perform other assigned duties. Required Skills Current BLS certification.


Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech. Ability to prepare anesthesia equipment, ensure cleanliness, and confirm correct setup of monitors, supplies, and medications where applicable. Comfort working in coordination with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, residents, and anesthesia technologists, including during complex cases.


Experience supporting equipment readiness, including preventive maintenance completion and operational troubleshooting. Ability to assist with difficult intubations and central line catheter placement as directed. Ability to operate the cell-saver machine and maintain accurate lab report tracking.


Ability to support between-case room and cart setup, including end-of-day full service set up. Additional Skills & Requirements Preferred: A four-year college education including related technical training, or a two-year college education with technical training closely related to the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Certification by the registry of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or another nationally recognized professional certifying body.


Availability for hours including afternoons/evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage, with call-back as needed.
