Join one of the most thoughtfully structured anesthesia practices in California. Our department was purpose-built around a simple idea: great anesthesiologists do their best work when they aren't burned out. That means a case mix free of trauma, transplant, cardiac, thoracic, and spine---and a schedule designed to flex around your life, not the other way around.

CASE MIX --- BROAD, BALANCED & SUSTAINABLE Our case mix reflects a deliberate choice: we want anesthesiologists who love general anesthesia to actually practice general anesthesia. No trauma activations at 2 AM. No marathon cardiac or spine cases.

What we do offer is a high-quality, well-rounded practice that keeps your skills sharp across the full breadth of the specialty. What We Do:

  • Orthopedics, general surgery, urology
  • Plastics, ENT, breast surgery, robotics
  • OB: ~150--180 deliveries/month, TOLACs
  • Dedicated L&D ORs (2)
  • Pediatrics: healthy ASA I--II, age >1 yr
  • (ear tubes, T&As, dental procedures)
  • Main OR + ambulatory surgery center
  • (no midday site travel required) What We Don't Do:

No cardiac, thoracic, or neurosurgery

  • No spine or trauma
  • No transplant
  • Limited NORA (expansion planned) OB & CALL --- IN-HOUSE COVERAGE, BUT YOU'RE NEVER ALONE Because we have an active OB service with TOLAC, call is in-house rather than home-call --- a meaningful distinction for safety and team culture. But in-house does not mean isolated:
  • One physician anesthesiologist + CRNA team on overnight --- your CRNA actively shares the clinical load: sitting in cases, assisting with C-sections, managing epidural requests, and supporting procedures
  • Backup provider is at home; the OR team is on call-in basis --- overnight volume is manageable
  • Weekday call runs 3 PM--7 AM only; weekend/holiday call is 24-hour THE SCHEDULE ADVANTAGE: WORKING ~3 OUT OF EVERY 4 WEEKS With 10--12 weeks of paid vacation annually --- available from your very first year --- and a 1:10 call ratio, our physicians effectively work three out of every four weeks while earning a full-time salary. Our scheduling culture makes this real: flexible partners, a dedicated per diem pool for last-minute coverage, and a track record of accommodating shift swaps and personal requests. Work-life balance here is not a recruiting line. It is a structural feature of how we operate. Most days you know exactly what time you leave the OR. No more open ended shift lengths. PSLF-eligible --- qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness LIVING IN SANTA ROSA If you've already decided on California, Sonoma County deserves serious consideration --- not for the clichés, but for the math and the quality of daily life. The Cost-of-Living Reality On a $500,000+ salary, the cost-of-living gap between Sonoma County and the Bay Area is not marginal --- it is life-changing in practical terms:

• Median home prices in Santa Rosa run $200,000--$400,000 below comparable homes in Marin, San Francisco, or the South Bay

• With our $250K interest-free home loan, down payment barriers are substantially reduced --- ownership is achievable, not aspirational

  • Lower property taxes, shorter commutes, and no toll bridges translate to real time and money returned to you every day

• You are not choosing between California and affordability --- you are choosing the version of California where your salary goes the furthest A Place That Rewards How You'll Actually Live With 10--12 weeks off per year, where you live matters as much as where you work. Sonoma County is exceptionally well-suited for physicians who intend to use that time:

  • Outdoor access is immediate: coastal hiking, cycling, kayaking, and open space are minutes from the hospital, not hours
  • Strong public and private school options in Santa Rosa and surrounding communities --- a consistent priority for physicians relocating with families
  • A functioning small city with genuine neighborhood character --- restaurants, arts, community --- without the density, congestion, or anonymity of the Bay
  • San Francisco is 60 minutes away for when you want it. The rest of the time, you won't need it.
