We have an exciting new opportunity for one anesthesiologist to join a stable and well respected group of board certified anesthesiologists. We are looking due to retirement and expansion. Our group was started in 2004 and we have a long track record with the County of Monterey.
Our group is well respected in the hospital and very active in attending meetings and leadership roles. Our practice is a mix of general surgery, bariatrics, orthopedics, thoracic and vascular, gyn, neurosurgery, and urology. We are the LEVEL 2 Trauma Center for the tri-county region of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties.
For a small hospital, we do an impressive amount of high acuity cases. We do regional blocks with ultrasound guidance for our orthopedic and vascular cases. The hospital has a family medicine residency and the residents rotate through general surgery.
Also, Natividad is a clinical rotation site for Tuoro Medical School. We have medical students on their surgery rotations. This gives us ample opportunities for teaching.
Natividad is one of 15 county hospitals left in California. It is extremely well run with a physician CEO, and is in the black financially. It has a reputation for excellence.
Our hospital is the newest hospital in Monterey County. It is a beautiful facility and extremely well equipped. We have a commitment to patient safety which is unique in the cost cutting environment we see all around us.
We have a float anesthesiologist who is not assigned to a room during the day, so that there is always a second person available to help with difficult cases, see pre-ops, consults, do blocks, and give breaks and lunch. Our typical day is from 7:00 to 3:30PM if you are not on call. We staff labor and delivery mostly with CRNAs, however, there are shifts available for those who wish to cover OB.
The 1st call anesthesiologist is the float from 7-3:30 then takes over the remaining case(s). The 1st call is off from 7AM. The 2nd call anesthesiologist is the backup for trauma from 3:30 PM-7AM.
The 2nd call rarely gets called in. We take up to 8 weeks vacation and everyone has equal priority in selecting weeks off, including the newest member. Monterey County is a world class vacation destination.
To live here is to enjoy a slower pace of life with so many opportunities for entertainment and recreation: beach, mountains, hiking, surfing, biking, dining, music, rodeo, the list goes on and on. Schools are excellent with a choice of public and private options. We have Cal State University Monterey Bay, and two community colleges in the area.
