Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-Lubbock Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Department of Anesthesiology is seeking board-eligible, board-certified and/or fellowship trained (e.g. Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Cardiac, Regional) applicants for the position of Academic Anesthesiologist, and the department is open to new graduates. Our faculty enjoy competitive salaries starting at $550,000 for general anesthesia and will jump to $600,000 upon board certification with up to an additional $50,000 for multiple certifications.


Call requirements are as follows: 28 days of night call per year and 12 days of weekend call per year. Our department provides anesthesia services at the primary teaching hospital, University Medical Center, which is a Level 1 Trauma and Regional Burn Center in the West Texas area, as well as a High-Risk Maternal and Neonatal Facility. We provide anesthesia for all types of OR cases, including cardiothoracic & vascular, pediatric, major trauma & burn, obstetric, as well as for Non-OR procedures in Cath & EP Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology & MRI. Special emphasis on OB and Pediatric boarded Anesthesiologists.


Academic Ranking -- Assistant Professor or higher, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generally, most time will be spent in provision of clinical care, with other allotted time for teaching and administrative duties. We are an academic practice, and it includes involvement in teaching of medical students and residents.


Faculty receive three weeks of academic time per year for professional development, with $3000/yr academic allotment. Opportunities exist for participation in various types of calls (overnight, weekends, etc.), which come with additional compensation.
