Seeking a dedicated and experienced Perioperative Medical Director --Physician Anesthesiologist to manage our Scope Preoperative Clinic in the adjacent Kenilworth Building. This role is pivotal in developing a multidisciplinary preoperative optimization (prehabilitation) program for Scope covered facilities and ensuring comprehensive, coordinated care for patients throughout their perioperative journey. Responsibilities: Leadership & Management - Oversee the day-to-day clinical activities of the Scope Preoperative Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and their interaction with the anesthesia and surgical teams in perioperative care planning. - Evaluate, enhance and implement the operational policies and procedures of the Scope Preoperative Clinic to optimize patient experience, throughput and outcomes. - With respect to the above, liaise with general and subspecialty anesthesia, surgical and nursing services. - Interact with Perioperative Nursing leadership, including the Associate Vice-President (AVP) for the OR, Perioperative Nursing Director and CRNA Director. - Evaluate and enhance the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) to maximize its practical usefulness to optimize information transfer, hand-offs and patient care metrics. Quality Improvement & Education - Drive perioperative continuous quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives that integrate preoperative assessment and optimization, intraoperative management and postoperative care. - With respect to the above, liaise with the Chief and Vice-Chief of Anesthesiology and the CRNA Director. - Educate and provide ongoing mentorship to Scope APPs on guidelines, policies and procedures that are consistent with national best practice and standard of care. - Stay engaged and informed of the latest developments in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.
