  • The Department of Anesthesiology at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC) an affiliate of University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks board certified candidates for several academic clinician tracks.
  • OSF SFMC and UICOMP started a 4-year categorical residency program in July of 2024 with approval for 32 Residents.
  • OSF SFMC is a 649-bed quaternary hospital and is considered the largest Level I trauma center for adults and children between the Chicago, Rockford, and St Louis metropolitan areas. It is the 4th largest hospital in Illinois.
  • The Anesthesiology department is a diverse team consisting of 15 faculty members, 10 community anesthesiologists, residents and over 40 CRNAs.
  • Services are provided for approximating 42 anesthetizing locations including General ORs, Cardiac ORs, Obstetrics, GI/Endo, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology.
  • Annual anesthesia case volume is approximately 30,000 cases which include general, orthopedic, urologic, as well as pediatric cardiac surgeries, pancreas, kidney and heart transplants.
  • Clinical responsibilities include mostly teaching and supervising residents along with didactic and curriculum development
  • 3 week on/1 week off model. The three week on model includes two weeks of M-F daytime coverage and one week of restricted call that includes ample time for rest and recovery.
  • Willing to entertain graduating residents and fellows as well as experienced anesthesiologists
  • Willing to entertain candidates desiring less than full-time positions
  • Faculty positions rarely supervise CRNAs.
  • Will entertain candidates with subspecialty training for Pediatrics, Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic, Pediatric CV, Critical Care and Pain
