- Position Summary The Anesthesiologist directs or provides licensed medical care in the administration of anesthesia to patients. Responsibilities also include case management, staff education and collaboration, and clinical research. The Anesthesiologist manages complex, unpredictable anesthesia situations. The Anesthesiologist must be competent in technical, cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving anesthesia care and services. The Anesthesiologist is expected to practice within the established Medical Center, anesthesia, and physicians' standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to the Intensive Caring Value Statements. Duties and Responsibilities 90% Clinical practice/clinical management includes but is not limited to the Following:
- Preforms or reviews perioperative assessment upon patient's admission to include biophysical, psychosocial and anesthesia parameters
- Develops or reviews an anesthetic care plan based upon assessment, lab work and ECG
- Directs staff in the implementation of the anesthetic care plan
- Responds appropriately to any change in the patient condition
- Maintains or oversees patient in anesthetized state using appropriate techniques and an accurate knowledge of pharmacologic agents.
- Maintains universal precautions and infection control standards in all aspects of patient care
- Manages/provides and documents a safe environment for patients
- Operates all anesthesia related equipment properly
- Demonstrates a knowledge of and is able to implement care in emergency situations
- Directs policy/procedure/protocol and product evaluation
- Directs quality assessment and improvement activities and staff meetings 10% Professional/Education Development Will consider candidates with additional subspecialty training (i.e., critical care and others).
