The University of Maryland Medical Center cares for some of the most critically ill patients in the region. Our CRNAs are crucial members of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, providing expert anesthesia care along with our anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare team members. Our CRNAs practice under an academic model of delivering high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain services. Our team are active members in the department, contributing to the educational mission, the culture of quality and safety, and cutting-edge research and scholarship. Our CRNAs provide care for patients at all acuity levels and across the lifespan, in various settings, including our flagship at University of Maryland Medical Center operating rooms, and world-renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, in addition to other procedural areas. Our group continues to grow, offering subspecialty opportunities for obstetrical and regional anesthesia. CRNAs at The University of Maryland are required to be independent thinkers and problem solvers while possessing the empathy and the scientific acumen to work as a team with our anesthesiologists practicing in a range of medical direction and supervision models. The University of Maryland is a different kind of practice, for a different kind of nurse anesthetist. Requirements: The desire to learn and practice in an acute care setting. Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and an accredited nurse anesthesia program Although two (2) years of anesthesia care in acute setting experience is preferred, it is not required. Have a valid state RN License (must meet education requirement(s) for state licensure) Have a valid state APRN Certification (must meet education requirement (s) for state recognition and obtain within six (6) months of hire) Hold certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) Have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and BLS by the American Heart Association Have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at the time of hire.
