The University of Maryland Department of Anesthesiology is growing. We have immediate openings for board certified/eligible critical care anesthesiologists in our supportive, collegial division of Critical Care Medicine. University of Maryland Medical Center is an 800-bed tertiary-quaternary academic medical center in Baltimore, Maryland. UMMC is home to the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Our institution is a regional leader in time-sensitive critical care, with nearly one-third of licensed beds located in the 11 sub-specialty ICUs on campus. Critical Care Anesthesiologists enjoy a varied operating room and ICU practice managing complex vascular, thoracic, transplant, orthopedic, general/acute care surgery, and OB/GYN patients. Our division members practice primarily in the Surgical ICU with neuroscience and cardiovascular options for qualified applicants. The Surgical ICU is a functionally-closed, 24-bed ICU with two mixed resident/APP teams, robust unit-based quality initiatives, excellent relationships with surgeons, and strong ancillary support. Intensivists teach critical care fellows from varied specialty backgrounds in a practice that includes point-of-care ultrasound and CRRT management. Expected rank for these positions is Assistant Professor or higher, however, rank and tenure status is dependent on candidate's qualifications. Research, education, simulation, and performance improvement opportunities are available to support professional growth.
