Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)


Location: Concord Eye Surgery, LLC


Job Summary: A skilled and compassionate Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is needed to provide anesthesia care, without MD supervision, for patients undergoing various outpatient ophthalmic surgeries to include, cataract, cornea, glaucoma, retina, and oculoplastic in a busy, two OR single specialty ambulatory surgery center. The CRNA will work collaboratively with the ophthalmologist and surgical team to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal surgical outcomes. The ability to adapt with quick adjustment to changing priorities and excel in a fast-paced environment to multi-task between responsibilities without compromise of quality work is a must.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Pre-Anesthesia Care:
  • Conduct pre-operative patient assessments, including medical history, physical status, and medications.
  • Evaluate H&Ps prior to surgery to determine if patient is suitable surgical candidate for this facility.
  • Comprehensive prep of charts with past medical history and current medical history one week prior to scheduled surgical date.
  • Develop individualized anesthesia plans based on patient needs and the specific ophthalmic procedure, discussing options and addressing patient concerns.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia from patients.
  • Educate patients and their families about the anesthesia process and pain management strategies.
  • Administer anesthetic medication prior to surgeon administration of retrobulbar block
  • Intra-Anesthesia Care:
  • Administer anesthesia for ophthalmologic surgeries, including general, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and anxiolytic.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and oxygen saturation, throughout the procedure.
  • Manage patient airways, including intubation if necessary.
  • Titrate anesthetic medications and interventions as needed to maintain patient safety and comfort.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies that may arise during the procedure.
  • Post-Anesthesia Care:
  • Oversee patient recovery from anesthesia in the post-operative area.
  • Evaluate and manage patient pain, nausea, and other post-operative discomfort.
  • Provide clear post-operative instructions and education to patients and their families, ensuring a smooth transition to home recovery.
  • Document all relevant anesthesia care and patient outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, surgical techs, and other healthcare professionals to provide seamless patient care.
  • Participate in team discussions regarding patient care planning and interventions.
  • Equipment and Supplies:
  • Ensure all anesthesia equipment and supplies are functioning properly and stocked appropriately.
  • Adhere to manufacturer's operating instructions and safety precautions for all equipment.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay updated on best practices and advancements in anesthesia for ophthalmology.
  • Attend continuing education trainings and participate in peer review activities.

Qualifications:


  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
  • Current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and anesthetic techniques.
  • Experience in administering anesthesia for a wide range of patients to include pediatric patients 2+ years and geriatric patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in an ophthalmology setting preferred.

  • 0700-1600 guarantee with occasional emergency add-ons extending beyond 1600 at OT pay
