This position is either 3 or 4 days a week. Wage is dependent on FTE Status Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Department: Endoscopy Reports to: ASC Management & Medical Director FLSA Status: Exempt Summary: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who practices both autonomously and in collaboration with Gastroenterologists providing high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia services. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, and Capsule Endoscopies. Minimum qualifications: · Graduate from accredited Anesthesia School · Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington · Certified by American Association of Nurse Anesthetists · Insurable by an appropriate malpractice insurer · Two or more years of related experience · Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) · Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: · Ability to perform clinically as a nurse anesthetist in the ambulatory surgery center setting on a regular basis. · Ability to operate, use, and interpret data from a wide variety of equipment to perform anesthesia care as well as necessary for perioperative care to support the safety and wellbeing of the patient while they are under the direct care of the CRNA. · Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively collaborate with various clinical staff and other disciplines. · Knowledge of infection prevention and control techniques. · Ability to maintain confidential records. · Ability to implement and adhere to facility policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities: · Perform and document the preanesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient. · Review, request, and order (as permitted by state law), laboratory/diagnostic studies. · Determine and assess if the patient is appropriate for an ASC based upon Spokane Digestive protocols. · Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services. · Develop and implement an anesthesia care plan (Designation of Propofol Total Intravenous Anesthesia [TIVA] or Monitor Anesthesia Care (MAC). · Select, obtain, prepare, and use equipment, non-invasive monitors, supplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation and anesthesia; perform safety checks on emergency supplies as needed. · Select, order, obtain, and administer analgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, necessary to provide anesthesia services. · Perform all aspects of airway management, including endotracheal intubation. · Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by evaluating patient response, and selecting, ordering, and administering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support to maintain patient stability during transfer. · Provide postanesthesia follow-up evaluation and care. · Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, provide airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and using basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques. · Performs other special projects and duties as assigned which may include, but are not limited to: o Quality assessment and quality assurance. o Didactic and clinical education of students and staff. o Appointment to facility committees and related activities. o Participates in required educational programs and departmental meetings. o Seeks ongoing professional educational growth. The amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 50% for up to 10 pounds and less than one-third of the time up to 25 -- 40 pounds. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 41 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an interior clinical office setting. Workflow may be demanding and chaotic at times requiring the need for multitasking. Exposed to patient population that can present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind.
