Specifically, the Department is recruiting a fellowship trained Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine physician. The candidate must have a distinct interest in training anesthesiology residents and teaching medical students. Additionally, the selected candidate must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate in clinical research endeavors and comfort working in a care team model. The Department has a very active and dynamic Acute Pain Service which includes a fellow, resident, acute pain nurse and faculty leader. The Department has an ACGME RAAPM fellowship, and applicants are expected to contribute as core fellowship faculty in regards to training, scholarship, education and mentorship. In addition to the Acute Pain Service, RAAPM faculty are also core faculty for the University's outpatient surgery center (OSIS). OSIS is a high volume center with a heavy emphasis on regional techniques for anesthesia and pain. The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNM HSC) is a tertiary referral center and the only Level 1 Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center for the state of New Mexico - an ethnically and medically diverse population. The city of Albuquerque is rich in history and offers skiing, mountain biking, hiking, any much more. Albuquerque is the annual host city for the International Balloon Fiesta and enjoys 340 days of sunshine as well as four distinct seasons.
