The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is recruiting for an Associate Director of Preoperative Optimization and Consultative Anesthesiology. This is a novel role at the Medical College of Wisconsin to align the organizational goals of Caring, Collaboration, Respect and Curiosity, and will continue to support the Department of Anesthesiology as a sustainable platform for preoperative optimization, appropriate triage to appropriate resources and collaborate with surgeons to develop processes for patients to have the best possible outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in appropriate and timely evaluations for preoperative patients, with oversight of preoperative optimization patients.
- Facilitate communication within the PAT Clinic faculty, RNs and APPs.
- Identify opportunities to improve the optimization processes and develop a framework for continuous improvement.
- Facilitate the training and development, launch and optimization of novel mechanisms, such as e-consults, AI triage tools, and virtual visits.
- Engage in onboarding and selection of new faculty and APPs.
- Based strategic initiatives, create new processes for preoperative physical and nutritional prehabilitation and the triage of low-risk patients who do not evaluation, Complete a trial in specific populations.
- Create a culture of teamwork within the Division of Preoperative and Consultative Anesthesiology.
- Identification of opportunities to advance evidence-based medicine and develop new processes and workflows to improve preoperative patient outcomes.
- Spearhead improvement processes in the Preoperative patient care space.
- Elevating academia by collaborating with the residency program director and the program director for the Master of Science in anesthesiology assistant program to create optimal learning experiences focused on perioperative optimization. Developing a fellowship program centered on perioperative optimization and consultation.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- MD, MD/PhD, or DO from an ACGME accredited institution
- Board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology
- Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Wisconsin
